The Churburg

A jewel of South Tyrol

It was originally built in 1253 by the bishops of Chur (from whom it derives its name), the Churburg is now a renaissance style noble residence with a magnificent arcaded courtyard. It is owned by the Counts of Trapp. Its armoury is world famous, the largest collection of its kind, with weapons and coats-of-arms of incomparable artistic workmanship. The Romanesque-style chapel, the Matscher hall and other sumptuous rooms contain historical objects of immense importance.
