The Ortler area
The Ortler area with the villages Solda, Trafoi, Stelvio, Gomagoi and
Stilfs stretches itself from 1300 to 3400 meters above the sea level.
Starting from fertile meadows the famous Stelvio street leads you by
sunny slopes up to high alpine mountain regions. Here, in the middle of
the
Stelvio National Parc, is the biggest summer ski resort in Europe.
A real attraction is the village Solda, situated on the foot of the
Ortler, with its Yaks from Tibet, settled there by Reinhold Messner,
who are perfect for an exotic shot.
There are more things to see: e.g. the museum “Alpine Curiosa” of
Reinhold Messner.
The pilgrimage chapel “Heilige drei Brunnen” in
Trafoi with its three holy wells, whose water is said to have special
forces.
In the Ortler area 14 mountains higher than 3000 meters are grouped
around “King Ortler” and just there, in the middle of this scenery, is
a wonderful ski area with snow until spring, modern infrastructures,
sun, fun and an incomparable mountain panorama.
There’s something to choose for everyone: skiing, Après Ski, fun etc.
Trafoi is very familiar – a hot tip – and the home of Gustav Thöni, who
started skiing there when he was a child.
Gomagoi and the tiny formed
Stilfs are the refuges for the ones who are looking for a little bit
less action and who prefer a cosy atmosphere. Prato with its lovely
surroundings offers all the year a variety of relaxing and entertaining
possibilities.
Easy walks or difficult hiking tracks in the National Park, the outdoor
swimming pool, fishing pond and great skiing resorts in short distance
which tempt to go skiing even in summer.
